Every plant has its own preferred conditions, but a few simple habits make indoor growing easier. Use the care summary on each product page and adjust gradually as you learn how your plant responds.
Start with light
Place new plants where they receive the light described on their product page. A bright room is not always the same as bright light at the plant itself; windows, walls, shelves, and seasonal changes all affect intensity.
Water the soil, not the calendar
Check the soil before watering. Many houseplants prefer the top inch or two to dry between waterings, while others need more consistent moisture. Empty standing water from decorative covers and make sure pots have drainage.
Give plants time to adjust
Shipping and a move to a new room can cause temporary stress. Keep a new plant in a suitable spot, avoid immediate repotting, and watch for changes over the first few weeks rather than reacting to every small leaf movement.
Use the right basics
- Use a watering can with a controlled spout so water goes exactly where it is needed.
- Clean stem shears before pruning or taking cuttings.
- Use a scoop and washable mat to keep potting projects contained.
